It started with a swipe, a match made in GIFs—no words, just instant chemistry. Years later, that playful beginning led to a luxe
Hunter Valley celebration at
Enzo Weddings that felt equal parts elevated and effortlessly fun. Maddison & Adrian's day unfolded seamlessly, with a romantic ceremony by
Married by Meredith and acoustic sounds from
The Cassettes Duo setting the tone for everything to come.
The wedding florals & styling was a modern dream—
The Flower Pursuit delivered refined, textural florals that perfectly complemented the venue’s warm elegance, while details like bespoke stationery by
Wish Boutique and a statement cake by
Butter added that editorial edge.
Maddison radiated effortless beauty, with makeup by
Hannah Senam and hair by
Chic Artistry perfectly completing her look, and every moment—from a heartfelt first look at
The Convent to golden hour magic—was captured beautifully by
Daniel Griffith Photo and
Hipshot Films.
As the sun dipped, the celebration shifted gears. Guests sipped, mingled, and gathered around the iconic espresso martini tower before the dancefloor came alive with
DJ Betty Swing Sax. With
Classic Limousines Newcastle on transport duty and an atmosphere that never missed a beat, it was a day defined by style, energy & a love story that proves the best beginnings can be the most unexpected.
We matched on Tinder in February 2017, and somehow our very first conversation consisted entirely of GIFs—no actual words exchanged. It was playful, a little chaotic, and completely memorable. Adrian was the one who eventually double messaged, breaking the silence and kickstarting a real conversation.
From that moment on, we couldn’t stop talking.
Our texts quickly turned into long, thoughtful messages—full-on five-paragraph essays with proper introductions and conclusions. Three months later, in April, we finally met in person, choosing a spot halfway between where we each lived. What started as a simple lunch turned into an entire day of sitting, talking, and getting to know each other. It felt easy from the very beginning.
Adrian planned a beach picnic at Fingal Bay—something we’d done before, so I had no reason to suspect anything unusual. After an hour’s drive and a long trek across the sand carrying everything from food and drinks to a beach umbrella and even drone gear, I was starting to get a little hangry.
Once we finally settled in, Adrian began flying his drone and suggested we take a photo together.
As we walked into position, I turned around—and there he was, down on one knee.
I was completely caught off guard. All I could say was “what?” over and over again. I couldn’t believe he actually had a ring. Eventually, of course, I said
yes.
The rest of the day was perfect. We went for a swim, I took what felt like a million photos of my new ring, and later we headed home to get ready for a dinner Adrian had secretly organised. It was such a special, unforgettable day.
Choosing our venue was an easy decision.
Enzo Hunter Valley stood out not just for its beauty, but for the feeling we got from the team from our very first meeting.
On the day, they exceeded every expectation. Everything ran seamlessly—they didn’t just provide the venue, they coordinated the entire experience. Throughout the night, the staff were attentive and thoughtful, constantly checking in to make sure both we and our guests were happy. We felt completely taken care of and couldn’t be more grateful.
There was one thing we absolutely weren’t willing to compromise on: an espresso martini tower. And it was worth every second—fun, memorable, and a true highlight of the celebration.
Adrian’s custom suit experience was incredible. He had an ivory jacket and pants designed at
Mannzilo in Brisbane after struggling to find the right fit off the rack. The team brought his vision to life perfectly, even adding our wedding date embroidered inside the jacket—a detail that made it uniquely his.
My dress journey was just as special. I found my gown at
Marry Me Bridal in Mosman after visiting three boutiques in one day.
That experience stood out immediately—it was warm, relaxed, and so enjoyable to share with my mum and Maid of Honour.
I chose a
Hera Couture gown by
Katie Yeung, after deciding between two of her stunning designs. The dress felt timeless yet different, with a beautiful fit and a subtle floral brocade that elevated the entire look. It also featured a detachable bow at the back, which I removed for the reception to change things up.
For alterations, I went to
The Fitting Room on Edward in Brisbane, conveniently connected to
Mannzilo. The team there was exceptional, making sure the dress fit perfectly. I felt completely confident in their hands.
Not long before the wedding, Adrian and I moved from Newcastle to Queensland for work. Planning a wedding from a distance wasn’t easy, which made it even more important to find vendors we could truly trust. Thankfully, we built an
amazing team who made everything feel effortless despite the miles between us.
What Marriage Means
To us, marriage is about everlasting love. It’s about growing old together and experiencing everything life has to offer—both the highs and the challenges—side by side.
A Little Advice
If there’s one piece of advice we’d share, it’s this: don’t try to cram too much into your wedding day. It goes by so quickly, and the most important thing is that you actually enjoy it. At the end of it all, it’s your day—so be present and soak it all in.
