SHANNON / Two big things - Firstly, surround yourself with passionate vendors as the pride they have in their work will benefit you in both the planning and on the day.
And secondly, have an engagement shoot!! It gives the couple and the photographer an opportunity to learn about each other. We have photos (with our pups included!) that we will treasure forever and it made us so much more comfortable in front of the camera on the Wedding day.

STEPHANIE / I actually tried to zone out of advice after a while because if you listen to absolutely everyone it gets overwhelming. If I WAS to give advice, I would say enjoy being engaged for a year or two. Book your date with your venue far in advance.
We booked ours about a year and a half earlier. As we didn’t have a wedding planner, it just made it so easy to slowly organise everything bit by bit. I couldn’t imagine having to organise a wedding within a short time frame. Also find a star of a wedding venue. Sally from Yandina Station was great if I had any questions or concerns, highly recommend!

SUSAN / Plan your Wedding for you and your partner’s tastes, no matter how old-school or unconventional it may seem. For your guests, it will ultimately be just another Wedding they’ve attended. But for you, it will be something you look back on for the rest of your life, so you might as well make it something special that will bring back fond memories and thoughts of ‘I’m glad we did that’.
It’s much better than looking back and thinking, 'I wish we got married in another location', or, 'I wish we did with the crazy colour scheme and weren’t so concerned with what our guests would think if we did'.

RACHAEL / Things absolutely will go wrong. Let your bridesmaids/family/whoever your support is deal with any dramas that they can and just focus on celebrating and having a good time.

SYLVIE / It’s cliché, but it is YOUR wedding, so just do what feels natural to you and your style. It’s so easy to get swept up in the ‘Instagram Wedding’ world when planning the big day that you can be at risk of losing sight of creating a celebration that’s authentically ‘you’.
Also, if you’re doing a DIY Wedding like we did, make it a rule to not be at the wedding site/venue the morning of.
Give yourselves the time to relax and enjoy the getting-ready process without the stress of seeing all the last bits come together. At the end of the day, don’t sweat the small stuff and trust that you are exactly where you’re meant to be in the moment.
